Shani Pradosh Puja is performed to please Lord Shiva. Shani Pradosh is the Pradosh vrat falling on Saturday and it is celebrated on the thirteenth day as per Hindu lunar calendar. It occurs during the shining and fading phases of the moon. As per Hindu religious beliefs, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati are in a playful mood during this period and they fulfill the wishes of the devotees. Shani Pradosh Puja is especially recommended for persons suffering the bad effects of Lord Shani and it is believed that by praying to Lord Shiva on this day, he will be saved from all such bad effects.
