When there is full moon day it is said to be very important as many rituals are performed. People in South India, call this day as Pouranami. People also fast on this day. This fastings with the rise of the sun and completes when the moon is seen in the sky. Also pooja is performed in evening time. The prayer is offered to Goddess Devi Maa.
