Makar Sankranti Puja is dedicated to the Sun God, as He is the king of planets. It is celebrated in the month of January with great fanfare and devotion and is believed to be one of the most auspicious days. Taking a bath on this day in the waters of the holy rivers and ponds of sacred temples is considered very auspicious. Mahashringar, Mahabhisheka and Mahapujan of Baglamukhi Devi, the Sun god and the nine planets is performed followed by Mahaarti in the evening. A special event of Shri Satyanarayan Katha Path is also held on this day from morning to evening.
