Karva Chauth Puja is considered as one of the most important fasts in Hindu religion, which is observed by married Hindu women to pray for the welfare and long life of their husbands. Unmarried girls also observe this fast for getting a good husband. It is kept nine days before Diwali and falls on the fourth day of the Kartik month as per Hindu calendar. Celebrated mainly in North India, married women have their meals and water before sunrise and don't eat food or drink water during the whole day. In the evening, the ladies listen to the legend of Karwa Chauth and break their fast after the moonrise.
